editorial #11 - Turkish Vogue, October 2010

Hilary Rhoda & Julia Stegner for Vogue Turkey October 2010 by Cuneyt Akeroglu
1960 Kusagi

Being a big, huge, massive, gigantic fan of the 1960's I was so excited to see this new editorial from Turkish Vogue and i am so excited to share it with you if you haven't already seen it!

I love everything about the sixties, the lifestyle, the advances in science, the suffragettes, the icons and celebrities, the music, the make-up, the hairstyles, the films and of course the fashion!

This editorial was also used as the cover shoot for the newly released Vogue.  The model duo, Hilary Rhoda, Julia Stegner exhibit influences from the 1960's retro scene in their make-up, fashion, hairstyles and even poses.

The name of the editorial, 1960 Kusagi translates to 1960 Generation in English.

Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Marina & The Diamonds (lyrics) Hermit The Frog

Yeah I feel I'm bordered down
Whenever he's around
I put on the crown of clowns
And melt slowly to the ground

Yeah I feel it coming on
When I've been static for too long
And an explosion comes in time
Before I go and cross the line
Oh yeah, I go and cross the line

Think before you blurt
Out the words you say to hurt
Coz next week you'll be ...

They say you used to be so kind
I never knew you had such a dirty mind
Well, I went to the doctors believing
The devil had control over me
I was finding it hard to breath and
Finding it hard to fight the feeling

That my heart just burst like a glass balloon
And that it fly too high and shattered too soon
I was the wrong damn girl in the wrong damn room
I broke my glass balloon
I let go of my glass balloon

Oh oh oh

They call him Hermit the Frog
He's looking for a dog
Did you find a bitch in me
Oh you're a abominable socially
You're just a little bit too much like me

Think before you blurt
Out the words you say to hurt
Coz last week I was so ...
But now it'll be you ...

Says you used to be so kind
Well baby I give you your dirty mind
I wanna tell you a secret
You can take your double standard love and keep it
I can't help the devil likes to make my heart a double bed
I can't help he sometimes like to come and rest his little head

Well my heart just burst like a glass baloon
We let them fly too high and they shattered too soon
They'll be the wrong damn people in the wrong damn room
We broke our glass balloons
We let go of their glass balloons
We broke our glass balloons
Let go of my glass balloon

Variation on Chic

Variation on Chic
Photographed by: Mario Sorrenti
Model: Abbey Lee Kershaw
Stylist: Jane How

As you all may have noticed i love. love. love Abbery Lee Kershaw, along with most of the world.  This fashion ediotorial was published in Vogue Italia (also a huge favourite of mine! best fashion editorials in Vogue Italia) August 2010.  I actually only just found this editorial so i am a little slow considering it was released in august but it really love it and would like to share it with you whether you have already seen it or not... It is amazing!

I love the monochromatic of this editorial.  Its so amazing the use of light and the curtain-like background.  I love the placement of Kershaw in this shot.  The angle of the shot, although she is not in the centre of the shot, makes Kershaw the focus.

Her hand placed over her head so delicately is so amazing.  Kershaw is so stunning she is amazing!  I love the lighting in this shot.  Although it is very feminine with the combination of the garments and Kershaw's facial expression, there is also a sense of mystery which makes this shot and the entire editorial interesting.

Kershaw in this photograph looks as if she is from a completely different era!  She looks amazing but not quite like herself.  This photo doesn't have the same edge she usually brings to her photographs.  It is much more soft and vacant.

We always wan't a bit of nude Abbey Lee.  She has the most amazing body and if you are anything like me think that her photographs where she brings a little bit of nudity to her photoshoots they bring a whole lot more interest... not just because of her stunning body but also because of the striking poses and confidence and poise she brings to the photos.

One of my favourite shots in the editorial.  I love. love this pose!! i am definitely going to use this photograph for tafe and draw it for my own designs.  The way she is holding herself is beautiful.  I also love... this skirt.  I love how it is sheer and you can see Kershaw's long, stunning legs

Kershaw's face in this photo (on the left) is absolutely amazing.  She looks like a perfect doll.  I feel like there is a sense of Audrey Hepburn essence about her, the way she is standing and how elegantly she is holding herself.  I also love this dress! I would definitely wear this dress!

This fashion editorial is absolutely amazing!  I love the monochromatics, the fact that it is Abbey Lee Kershaw and the use of lighting and placement in the shots.  What do you guys think about this editorial??  Good/bad/amazing/horrible.. you have your say :)

New York Fashion Week 2010

Who New??? Victoria Beckham, former Posh Spice Girl would become an international renowned designer!  Her newest collection (spring 2011 RTW) shown at New York fashion week, on september 12th, proves that she has talent, and lots of it.  The collection was only 26 pieces but each piece was a sheik and classic piece.  Beckham added to the vintage feel of the collection by sitting in the front row and narrating her collection.  She explained that her own style of clothing has loosened up which has been an inspiring factor in this collection.  I think that this side of Beckham's style is so much more appealing and more sellable to society as Beckham has been known for her clinched waists and skin-tight ensembles.  However, this new collection uses drape and fabrics so beautifully.  I was honestly very surprised by the sophistication and elegance of the collection.

Although, Beckham has received some criticism saying although she has moved away from the form fitting silhouettes she has used many sheer silks and parachute silk materials that fall in a way that requires a flawless, slim body to suit the garments.  I, however, disagree with this criticism as i believe the outfits are possible timeless classics that can be worn by a wide range of sizes and age groups.
