Trend Alert: Legwear

As winter comes to a close and spring springs into life we are down to our final days of leg-wear before the Australian heat forces us to wear the bare minimum.  I love tights, stockings, leg-wear and socks so if you too are enjoying this trend here are some final notes on the trend:

The accessibility of leg-wear and hosiery, as we know, is far and beyond easy.  It has become noticeable to me that merely by updating your leg-wear, stocking, socks and hosiery closet it can seasonally update your outfit.
Here are some seasonal leg-wear trends that can instantly improve a dull outfit.

Bohemian:
The bohemian hosiery trend incorporates a mish-mash of extreme patterning.  Embellishments of all sorts including patches, mesh panels, slashes/rips and mirrors.  The colour palette is that of winter spice, warm earthy colours very similar to the boho look of the 70's.

Some designers who have embraced this hoisery trend include Anna Sui.

Clean cut:
Colour blocking is another hosiery trend ready to vamp up your wardrobe.  Colours such as primaries, pastels and neutrals are used in checks or just panels of pure colour.  This very athletic style used by Balenciaga in the winter/autumn 10/11 collection.  This trend contrasts a high-tech and technological look with feminine curving lines.

Icey chic
This hosiery trend focuses on an icy, arctic colour palette or glacier blue and snow white.  It uses metallics and crystals to create a 'white witch' or 'winter wonderland' look.  This trend also encompasses the very popular cut-out trend, usually seen with circular cutouts.

El Naturale
This final hosiery trend focuses on ones connection with nature.  The trend is inspired mainy for natural textures and forms.  The colour palette is mainly natural colours of clay; bark and earthy colours.  The trend uses embellishements that create a tactile and textural effect such as rouching, gathering and curved gathered panels.

Which one is for you???

  1. Then of course there is the the two tone trend. Where one leg cannot arrive at an agreement over colour with the other.
